COMMISSIONS

Thank you for considering me to create a custom painting for you! I love to capture what makes people happy, whether it's your best furry friend, cheerful flowers, or a soothing scene.  Here are some details on the process and what is needed for a commissioned painting.  Please email me if you are interested in a commissioned piece and we can go over the details of creating something special for you.

Subject Matter

I specialize in animals, flowers, and landscapes. I am also happy to tackle other subjects, except for human portraits. I have to confess that I am not good at painting people.

Painting sizes

Most of my paintings are either 8"x10" or 11"x14" and these are the sizes I recommend for the best results.  If you would like a different size, we can discuss.

Pricing

Prices start at $200 and go up depending on the size and complexity of the painting. I will discuss details with you specific to your commission. Shipping is in addition to the painting price. All prices are in US Dollars.

Examples:

An 8"x10" pet portrait of one pet will average $200.

An 11"x14" pet portrait of one pet will average $275.

Additional pets in the same painting would add $75 each for either size.

An 11"x14" loose landscape will average $200.

An 11"x14" close up flower painting will average $300.

Reference Photos

I usually will create your commission using reference photos either provided by you or that I search out for you. You can send reference photos to me at amandafullanart@gmail.com

A few important things about reference photos:

Photo ownership

It is very important that you either have taken the photo yourself, have written permission to use a photo taken by someone else, or are using a photo from an open source such as Pixabay or Unsplash. I take copyright seriously and will not use photos without permission.

Pet Portraits
High quality reference photos are especially critical for pet portraits. The better the photos, the better the portrait. I request at least 3 good quality photos of your pet. I will give you my input on which photo will make the best painting, although it is ultimately your choice, and use the other photos for cross reference. Digital photos are preferred.

Tips for good pet photos:

  • Take the photo at eye level with your pet--it makes it feel much more personal.

  • Try to get close to your pet in at least a couple of the photos so that I can see the details that make your pet unique and give them personality.

  • Photos taken outdoors in the early morning or late afternoon sunlight make for more interesting lighting.

Preview & Approval

When your painting is complete, I will send you a photo for your approval.  If you have minor changes you would like to see, I will do my best to accommodate them as possible and then send you another picture. Just please keep in mind that only so much can be changed without damaging the painting or starting over with a new painting.

Delivery Time

Delivery time will depend on how many commissions are ahead of you. I will give you my best estimate when we discuss your painting, but in general please plan on 6-12 weeks for delivery.  If you need your painting sooner, let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you.

Payment and Shipping

I request a 30% deposit before I begin your commissioned painting.  The balance is due after the final approval.  When I receive the final payment, I will ship the portrait to you protectively wrapped and packaged.  If you live in the southwest metro area of Minneapolis, personal delivery can also be arranged.

Payment method options: I accept  Venmo, PayPal, and major credit cards.
